I Have So Much Money!!!

Discussion : Why Do Some People Feel the Uncontrollable Need to Excessively Flaunt Their "Wealth": May It Be Real Or Imaginary ?

Today I was on the 6 train going downtown after work...and there they were. Three impeccably beautiful ladies, in their bright reds and pretty plaids. You can always tell who the confident achievers are, especially when they are all too eager to share details about the prices of their bags. Or how much they spent last week on dinner. Or their fabulously exclusive ski trip last week in, idk, Switzerland. lol.

While the rest of us on the train could care less or like me, hide the little hole in my two year old bag from them LOL. Those of us who are rich and classy, probably wouldn't be talking about this on the train. Though, somehow I doubt the super rich would be riding on the 6 train going downtown during rush hour.

So, what the hell compels them to feel the need to flaunt themselves on a public train...a train notorious for smelly hobos...

Women often flaunt their wealth to show that they are more desirable than other women. The whole, "I am better than you," idea. In Darwinism, it's always about survival of the fittest. After all, the flashiest and best male birds always get the most females. The same idea can be applied here. So...the flashiest and prettiest women always get the best males? That can be argued i guess?

Well, for some more concrete theories:

According to some researchers, the wealthy often discuss money because a wealthy individual often faces many challenges to their status. They want to make sure people know they have millions, and not just hundreds of thousands, or if they are from old money.

Wealthy people are also often placed on pedestals and get used to the sense of entitlement. Flaunting their wealth allows others to know that they deserve to be treated better than the average person.

ON THE OTHER HAND, it is known among the mental health community, that some mentally ill patients exhibit behaviors of grandiosity. They believe they are fabulously wealthy and are the center of all the attention. In particular, schizophrenic patients have pathological grandiosity sometimes due to delusional beliefs.

So...were those women really rich when they said their chanel bag was thousands of dollars? We all know how much a chanel bag costs, but to say how much it costs? How...uncouth!!! LOL. Or were they just birds of a flock, trying to compete against each other for attentions of the opposite sex? Or they grew up entitled and privileged and feel they need to show others they are better? Or...perhaps....they are mentally ill. :P

For now, I'll leave it to the you guys, the readers, to decide.

Peace!

Despite their expensive bags and probably designer clothes, they travel around the same way we do. They must skimp on the travel expenses in order to keep up their pricey lifestyles.

it's been proven that women buying materialistic things they can't even afford are at least happier with their lives. so why not? haha
